Asian Graduate Student Fellowships in Singapore, 2014

The Asia Research Institute of NUS invites applications for Asian graduate student fellowships from citizens of Asian countries. The fellowship is offered to graduate students doing their Master’s or PhD degrees and enrolled for a full time advanced degree at a university in an Asian country. Duration of fellowship is for a period of six (6) weeks and covers pro-rated monthly allowance, reimbursement for cost of training employment pass and visa fees, airfare, access to library and computer resources on campus and 3 working days of leave. Application should be emailed by 15 November 2013.

Study Subject (s): The fellowship is awarded in the humanities and social sciences on Southeast Asian topics at NUS in Singapore.
Course Level: This fellowship is available for pursuing graduate degree level at the Asia Research Institute of NUS in Singapore.

Eligibility: -The Asia Research Institute of NUS invites applications from citizens of Asian countries enrolled for a full time advanced degree at a university in an Asian country (except Singapore) for consideration for the award of Asian Graduate Student Fellowships.
-These fellowships are offered to current graduate students doing their Master’s or PhD degrees and working in the Humanities and Social Sciences on Southeast Asian topics and will allow the recipients to be based at NUS.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Citizens of Asia (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, China, Georgia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia Iran, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, North, Korea, South, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia,  Sri Lanka, Syria, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen) are eligible for this graduate fellowship.

Scholarship Description: The aim of the fellowship is to enable scholars to make full use of the wide range of resources held in the libraries of NUS and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. Scholars will be expected to commence on 16 May 2014 and to make a presentation on their work at a “Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies” to be organized at the end of June 2014.

What does it cover? Successful candidates can expect the following benefits:
1) A pro-rated monthly allowance based on SGD1, 250
2) Reimbursement for cost of Training Employment Pass and Visa fees.
3) A one-time round trip travel subsidy by the most economical and direct route (via budget airline if available) on a reimbursement basis upon being accepted for the fellowship.
4) Access to library and computer resources on campus.
5) 3 working days of leave.
